Sorry for delay. The weather has been nice lately, and so I have been cruisin' the streets with the motorcycle.

I have to say, this last vote was a nail-biter. At one point in time, the votes had been tied, and so I really couldn't get a head start on the pics until the day after.

There have been a few votes coming in after deadline, but I don't mind. I invite it, just to read the comments.

Votes for option 1: 25
Votes for option 2: 23

And for giving me a run for my money, your story (not mine), get another two pics this week.

Lets see how this goes:
----------------------------------------------------------------
If you had asked me if Tau had the very same expressions of emotion evident on the faces of us humans, I couldn’t tell you. Before I met this unique race, I had guessed that such a godless, faithless, weak and insignificant race would be so alien and unfamiliar to the mighty Imperium that there would be no similarities. I am not very good at observing subtle hints, and even obvious signs of emotions. My brother could act like he was brave in front of me when we heard of our sister’s death, and I hadn’t seen how alone he looked behind that stern face he faked. But, what I saw before me was very obvious.

Xin’Vauk wasn’t doing very well with this. As Kai’Faan handed her the scanner, he was trying to explain something to her through bubbling coughs of blood. Her face had shown sadness, confusion, frustration and hopelessness all in one single easy to read face. She was a warrior. They should see death every day. They should be hardened grizzled soldiers that can see a comrade explode into mist while they continue fighting the enemy with brain matter dripping off their face.

Why is she taking this so hard?

I couldn’t see her go through this anymore…..I snatched the scanner away from her shaking hands, and demanded she open the broken up medkit, and save Kai’Faan. Funny thing was, the moment I mustered up the courage to help her, she hardened up as well.

She opened up the medkit, and proceeded to cut away the cloth from his gut. Kai’Faan looked back at me, confused. I knew he couldn’t understand me, but I told him he is going to see this to the end. The only reply was a scream of pain as Xin’Vauk plunged a cylindrical device into the gunshot wound and held it there while she grabbed another tool. I had to cover his mouth to stifle the screams. He could lead anybody right to us.

She wasn’t using any painkillers either. Only a look of concern as she worked for what seemed like hours. I thought I would have to hold Kai’Faan hard, but I had forgotten how weak he was. Believe me, he was fighting the both of us as best he could. During this time, Xin explained to me that internal wounds seemed more fatal in tau than humans. Most of it was because the Tau’s bone mass was made of a less density material, making it softer than an average human.

But a look of relief when she moved the cylindrical device from his wound and read something that popped up on its display. Xin explained that it had monitored the internal wounds, and most was minimal, and it had located the Ork slug. She then pulled out from that device an object that looked the size of pen cap. This was a mini-drone meant to embed itself in torn tissue to mend, but it was slow. She plunged it into the wound, and from what Xin explain to me is that it should de-materialize the located slug into small particles only to be dissolved within the body several rotaa later (whatever that meant). Wish the Imperium had such devices, but then again, having such things would be considered heretical.

She proceeded to wrap the wound as best she could. After the muffled screaming stopped, Xin padded Kai’Faan on the face and said something, which I probably think translated into, “You’ll make it!”........................

Unlike the Imperium, the Tau aren't quick to leave their brethren (or whatever the term which would be appropriate in this case) behind. The close-up really highlights Xin's features.

Yeah, the Tau value life more so than the Imperium. This is a tough concept for Randall to grasp.

Thanks for the compliment. This pic was fun to draw.

YES, YES, YES!!! MY CAMPAIGNING WORKED!

Sorry Kai’Faan, but the 4+ Feel No Pain save for having a medic around worked. I know it was very painful but you must serve the Greater Good a little longer!

Lol. There's actually a name for it. It's called "Choose Your Own Adventure" based off the popular kids stories and the official title, "Gamebook" [link]

So it's nothing new.

Yesh! It lives! it lives!

It was a close one, indeed, O.o

But it is good to see the little geek being alive, and taken care of. Now...Lets not hope he will have internal bleeding, for else...he's screwed.

Hey, I don't know much about biology, but I know enough to guess what could happen...and what could kill him.

On the lighter side, it is a good thing the Death Korps of Krieg aren't present. Dear lord...Chemical and trench warfare?...I doubt the Tau would have lasted long then :/

If I had brought Death Korps of Krieg, this would have been a very short story.
