Next part of the story. Sorry about the danger folks, when tough decisions are made, sometimes people are going to get hurt. Previous: [link] next: [link]
--------------------------------------------------------------------- KaiFaan had been hit with something. He was holding his gut, and his hand had been coated with cyan blood. I ran to him when the photon blast caused the orks to pause in their assault if only for a moment. I pulled him up, and we all ran towards the back while I helped KaiFaan along. Another ork blocked our path from the back until he was shredded up by the stealth suit guards volley of blue pulse shots. He must have come back when KaiFaans vitals dropped. The path was clear, but the bodyguard silently motioned for us to move while we ran out the back. I looked behind us while we jogged towards the old riverbed. I was helping KaiFaan move; he looked like he was in a lot of pain. It seemed the bodyguard stayed back to keep the orks busy while we fled. Last I saw of him was when he ran back in the ruins just after he dodged a thrown ax from the inside. Im sure he fought with honor till the end.
The sound around us was diminishing to just the sound of our foot (and hoof) falls. KaiFaan looked at his scanner, said something to Xin and pointed towards a huge crack in the concrete riverbed floor. We got closer to it, and with some effort, we crawled inside. I took one last look outside before plunging into darkness. I saw no one follow us.
Out of my backpack, Xin pulled out one of those light-discs she used back in the catacombs. She ran her thumb on the bottom of the disc, and it lit up the whole cavern. That is when I saw KaiFaan on the ground, coughing up blood from his mouth. He was losing a lot of blood. I pulled off my backpack, and Xin dug inside to find something to use. The medkit inside was severely damaged (Im guessing it was from when Xin tripped me). The stuff we had, Xin told me it might keep him alive, but he will be in a lot of pain. KaiFaan told her that he didnt want to go on, and he was honored to do what he did for The Greater Good. He unhooked his personal CPU from his belt, and was going to show her how to find the plants by using the scanner on the unit. XinVauk seemed to struggle with this. I dont know if it was because her (Warrior/Shas) caste wasnt supposed to understand the workings of his (Kor) castes programming code, or if it was because she couldnt cope losing him.
I have to do something:
1) Help XinVauk patch up KaiFaan. He is invaluable to the mission, and wouldnt have any trouble finding the pods growing down here. The trouble is, he will be in so much pain, and the trek back will be slow, agonizing and probably more dangerous for all of us.
2) Convince XinVauk that we need to follow through with KaiFaans wishes and give him the sedative to ease his pain and die peacefully. Hopefully, she can understand the scanner after he calibrates it, find the pods, and return back with NOTHING to slow us down. Its too bad we lost the stealth suit and the drone. That could have helped us so much. ------------------------------------------------------------------ I will close the votes on April 4th.
Hey, I was following this for a while (I don't believe I voted ever though) but lost track.. anyways I really like the story you've put together, but I have to point out that the Earth caste is actually Fio - Kor is air and Por is water.. Not trying to be a jerk or anything.. well I'm off to read up till the current issue!
Ahhh!! A debate I have seen fought ferociously on forums all over the net. Things going into detail as much as hot blooded creatures like mammals have red blood cells and DNA follows the boundies of the law of the galaxy...and so on. I never got involved in these debates because I really didn't have an opinion.
The sources I used was from two GW novels based on Tau. Kill Team written by Gav Thorpe and Firewarrior written by Simon Spurrier. Both published by black library and approved by Games Workshop. In both novels, they have given written visual cues of cyan blood spilling from the bodies of Tau.
I was always in the belief that Tau had red blood, but after reading these two novels, and playing the game Fire Warrior by THQ, I had to switch sides to believe the cyan color blood approach.
Now, I really am not set on saying Tau have red or cyan blood, but if there was another source (other than forum discussions) that was approved by GW proving that Tau have red blood, I will stand on your side for all times and defend our honor!!
pffff who care about dna XD i've read the novels too and played the game and : 1) the game is not warhammer world , like dawn of war, space marines and all the stuff based on the warhammer40k(and fantasy) world 2)Even if i love the way Gave thorpe write he didn't made the tau's Game codex (equivalent of holy bible, coran and all the religions holy books)but he simply supervised the creations. 3)the warhammer lexicanum says: bluish PURPLE
PS: thanks for the chatting i love warhammer background and i love discussing of it !
PPS:has never been my intention to quarrel, simply to discuss politely abut one of my favurite races (one of my army is the Tau one)
PPPS: excuse me for my bad english i'm not really good at speaking it XD
