Part 3 of 3

----------------------------------------------------------------------
Then something audible came through the speakers…..it was a scream. Not of pain, but of panic and rage. “Sir, the subject’s vitals have spiked,” one of the staff said to the lab tech, “and they have been getting stronger every minute.”

I looked into one of the many monitors, and noticed something that I will never forget. There she was, Xin’Vauk was thrashing about in a small metallic room while some servitors hovered around her probably making observations. She had been stripped of her armor, and a helmet with tubes seemed to have been placed on her head. WHY WERE THEY DOING THIS TO HER, AND WHAT DID THEY NEED?!?! I couldn’t tell how much agony she was in because the contraption covered her face. Xin screamed “RANDALL,” just like in my nightmares. She must sense I’m getting closer.

The lab tech turned back to the monitors, and clicked on a mic, “Who…is…Randall?” Several staff members where glancing at each other in confusion. It was good nobody was looking back at us, because my wrath couldn’t be contained much more. I’m sure it was evident.

But then the Major quietly handed me a key-card, and spoke with silent venom, “Sub-level 2 has access to the maintenance shaft,” Then the daemon turned to the closest control panel and typed in some command code and soon the monitors crackled into static, the staff members seemed to scramble to fix the unforeseen issue, “her cell door is unlocked, so now leave me to my will or you will lose not only your opportunity, but your life.” When the Major turned back to face me, a grin of malevolence was on the bruised face of the once human officer. (What was the daemon up to?)

The Major spoke into a mic, addressing high command, “This is Major Pratius, please escort Commissar Setorious to the lab for a ‘short’ update on the captured xeno.” Once the speaker confirmed the command, the daemon glared at me with a hungry grin while silently forming two words, “MOVE IT!!!”

By instinct, I bolted out of the lab and towards the holding cells. A single Imperial Guard reading a tome stood up from a desk stood near the access way to the cells. “By the Emperor,” he spoke while looking at my torn shirt, “what happened to you?” I skidded to a stop and the guard looked down the hall while asking, “Wait, what is going on? Is there a breach?” He was completely ignoring me. I had to do something:

1) Tell him about the daemon and inform him to retrieve the Inquisitor (the powerful one who kidnapped Xin’Vauk). Let him know about the possessed Major. Probably the only one who “might” be strong enough to combat this thing in full force. This daemon can hide within hosts quite well. There are only two people aware of its presence: Me and the unconscious Ordo Agent. By the time she comes around, the daemon would have moved into another host. Once I leave this place, there is NOTHING in the way of the daemon’s final goal of Commissar Setorius…….unless the Inquisitor was involved.

2) Take out the unsuspecting guard. I have the Major’s pistol, but there is a huge Imperial Bible on the desk that the guard was posted at. I know this tome is heavy enough to cause some severe blunt trauma. He is a guard, just like me, doing his job. He doesn’t deserve to be shot. At least this way, I might get both Xin and myself out of here without the attention of the Inquisitor. After all, I assume Xin’Vauk is the Ordo Xeno’s new prized subject. The less attention I can draw from the inquisition, the better.

It's Ordo Xenos, not Xeno. Just pointing that out.
