--------------------------------------------------------------
I really don’t know if my luck is changing, or it’s the silence before the storm. For one thing, I know much more about my…uh…my abductor. Maybe a savior. There is such a grey area in these definitions now. And for a short moment in time, I had forgotten that I was in an Ork occupied zone of the city just from talking to…..I think her name was Xin’Vauk…..well, that was the abbreviation of some long name that included her caste, rank, home and personal meaning. Believe me, I didn’t want to try to understand their xeno culture.

The short amount of respite was good. It didn’t help my hunger, but at least rest is rest. But I’ll start from the beginning after I helped her up.

She lost a significant amount of strength I noticed as I helped her to her…uh….hooves. She grasped her helmet and pushed some hidden icons from the inside. Apparently, that huge crash on the wall the day before damaged it, because she dropped it without hesitation, grabbed the blue light disc, dimmed it somehow and gave it to me. She didn’t say anything, but I got the hint that I need to help her out of here. She even left her forearm unit that had shown the holomap. It looked busted from the bite from that squig.

I turned to head back to try to find the pistol she…well….I lost, but hearing the sounds of more Orks in the distance of the catacombs, she decided against it, and pointed South (I think). It took hours to find a way out of the tunnels, and back to the surface again. This planet was not my home, and I only memorized the maps during the debriefing, so getting a heading on where I was at was nearly impossible, not to mention the fact the Orks did a number to this place since the last orbital photos where taken.

I was wanting to find her destination ASAP, but her steps were getting weaker, while I was dizzy myself. I think the Tau drugs might be wearing off. Not too far, I found some ruins of a greenhouse, and thank the Emperor, I heard running water. I lost lots of water from sweat, but Xin’Vauk, she seemed to have no sweat glands. I guess evolving on a desert planet, you need to conserve any water you can.

We rested, and I drank from a busted hydration pipe. She sat and tried to work on her comm unit (I think it’s a comm unit) on her head. Her holo-map display seemed to be broken as well. Maybe my bad luck is contagious. She should have left me to die when this whole crap started yesterday.

That is when I remember I started asking questions. I knew she understood low gothic, so now she has some answers for me. The first salvo of questions heeded little satisfaction. “What are we doing?” had been answered with “I….we need you” and “Who is we?” got a response like “Aun’vre Ni’zuul and our Tio’ve.” EVEN THE “Why-do-you-need-ME?” QUESTION WAS REPLIED WITH “For the Greater Good.” Needless to say, I didn’t understand what these words meant. The short answers got me flustered, but then I was surprised when she asked MY name. “ private Randall Glease of the 137th Liberation Unit.” That is when I let my guard down and spent an hour or so telling her about my (dead) family and past. I don’t know why I did it. Maybe it was my WILL giving up from war, and needed to escape for just a moment. Maybe it was too much. She seemed more angry at herself after I opened up to her, like the weight on her shoulders just got heavier.

Well, we seem rested, and her arm & head looks better, but I can’t get more info out of her, so now what do I do:

1)--Throw caution to the wind and keep heading south into the ancient ruins of the industrial district to her Aunz…Aav…..whatever it is, and at least be in a better place (I think) than Ork occupied territory. She seemed like she need to get there soon.

2)--I don’t know why they need me, and it could be good, or bad. But, I think I made progress in breaking away that personality barrier she has, and I could find out more if we stay in these greenhouse ruins. We have no weapons, but I do hear the battle at least 3 km from us. No immediate danger (that I know of).

I'll close the votes on August 31st.
